Welcome to Blogmas day 22!
This year, my Christmas Day is going to be spent in so many different ways than I’m used too. I usually love the lead up to Christmas more than the day itself but this year, I am super excited for Christmas Day to come! (Only 3 more days to go!).
For the first time in my life I will not be staying at my mums house on Christmas Eve, this year Robert and I are house sitting (and doggysitting too) for our family friends over the festive period. This means that the two of us will be waking up together and opening Christmas Eve by ourselves.
I am very very very very excited!
Having set out our stockings and presents the night before, we will wake up together, go through to the living room, play some Christmas music or watch the Christmas TV programmes whilst we open our presents together. We will then get dressed and ready for the day. I always put in a little more effort with dressing up on Christmas Day! Do you? I know some people stay in their pyjamas but I feel it’s one of those days where you get dressed up to take festive family pictures!
For the first time, we are hosting a meal! We have invited over (with homeowners permission) both of our parents and siblings for a big bbq breakfast with all the trimmings! This means I can lay out the table with a festive garland, crackers and candles and a festive red table cloth…it’s this sorta stuff that makes me truly happy! It will be the first time our families have actually come together for a meal so it will be a special occasion for many reasons.
Inviting our families around to be together calls for a huge present opening ordeal, and oh boy are we going big! We have organised to set up everyones presents with a special tag of each persons initial so that we can all have our presents together. When we are all finished with breakfast and presents both of our families are off to visit their friends for dinner.
Robert and I wanted to make our Christmas Day as chilled out as possible so we are going to stay in and cook dinner for just the two of us. It was too hard to commit to having dinner at someone else’s house and we are also looking after 2 doggies! We have definitely gone over board with the food shop, but at least that’s boxing days dinner done!
I am so excited to have a lovely family morning and then a night in with Robert. Our plan for the evening will be to eat as much food as possible, have a couple of drinks and watch some Christmas films, maybe even go for a swim in the pool! It is going to be an easy, stress free day and I’m so excited for it to arrive! I’m up early for work on boxing day so I didn’t want to be out too late on Christmas Day anyway!
There are only 3 days left until Christmas Day and I still have so much to organise! 1 day left of work until Christmas… lets do this!
What are you up to on Christmas Day? Will you be spending the day with family?
I hope it’s a lovely one for you!
Love, Abby x
