The 24th day of the 12th month brings the most magical, warm feeling. There’s a sense of excitement, a real buzz before the ‘big day’. Whether you’re yoing or old, I hope you believe in the magic of Christmas, and while you nestle your head, all snuggled in bed… I wish you hear sleigh bells in the sky.
Maybe I’m still pretending I’m 6 again and I already know I won’t be able to sleep, I’ll also be the first one awake! Always have been, and probably always will be. Not any other day of the year though, nuh uh. ‘I’m only a morning person on December 1st’. Do you wake up early too? Or do you manage to sleep in on Christmas Day?
Ahhh… the excitement is real!
This Christmas is the first one for Robert and I to be hosting (as I’ve mentioned about 34 thousand times already… soz) which means I’ve been writing to-do lists, going over the same things 67 times and tying loose ends to add the extra magic for Christmas. Because we’re hosting (blah, you get it) our Christmas Eve has been a bit different than usual so I thought I’d share with you how we’ve spent it! I hope it brings you warm fuzzy feelings too!
Our Christmas Eve 2019
This morning I jumped out of bed early (must have been all the excitement, or I thought it was Christmas Day already) around 8am and figured I couldn’t get back to sleep, so I began to prep the food.
I’ve peeled and chopped all the veg for our Christmas dinner so that I don’t have to spend as long in the kitchen on the day. I then baked my favourite chocolate cookies which we’ll be having as part of our pudding on Christmas Day. I also love baking every Christmas Eve so I knew I wanted to bake something anyway!
Then, we cleaned and tidied the last few things so that it was all fresh for Christmas. Does anyone else do that? It always feels so good having it tidy at Christmas. For any unexpected guests and of course space for all your presents. Haha.
Thanks to my Dad, who managed to get a few free cinema tickets meant that we could all go to see Frozen 2 today. Oh my goodness! I loved it! Leo (my little brother) and I came out singing and dancing because I was just SO good! I definitely recommend watching it if you love Disney or musicals! On our way home we had to pull in Tesco because we needed more potatoes… I do like a lot of roasties with my Christmas dinner!
Is it Christmas Eve without a bubble bath and a Lush bath bomb? I think not. Robert treated me to a gorgeous bath bomb which we popped into the bath so we could begin to relax and unwind for Christmas. Now we’re smelling all cosy and fresh, we put on our matching Christmas pyjamas, and had a mini photo shoot with our guineas! It’s like the perfect family Christmas card picture… haha!
After a day of preparing and ticking off our last to-do list. It’s now time to sit, enjoy and take in all the festivities before Santa comes to town.
We’ve opted for The Polar Express and Miracle on 34th Street to cosy up to this evening whilst we eat a Terry’s chocolate orange and drink a hot chocolate too. How are you spending your evening? All cosied up, I hope!
Thank you for reading my Blogmas posts, and for sharing all your love. I’m relieved I got to the end of it… at some points I didn’t think I was going too. However, I have loved every post and enjoyed writing them just as much. I hope you have too. Thank you again!
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years. I hope 2020 is good to you.
Love, Abby x
